Music Ministry

Music at St. John's Westminster is full of variety. There are opportunities to be involved in music at any age, and in many different capacities. Our musical style for worship is "blended," which means we draw the best music from traditional and contemporary sources. All rehearsals are in the Music Room.

Adult Choir

Our choir leads Sunday worship, sings for special services and events, and in our Concert Series. Rehearsals are Wednesday nights from 7:15-8:45pm, and Sunday morning from 9:15-9:45am. We sing a variety of music from sacred jazz, to classical works by Mozart and Faure. The choir is accompanied by piano, organ, and instrumentalists. The choir also records a CD each year for the homebound members of the congregation. There is no experience necessary to join this fun group!

Worship Band

Our worship band is open to anyone who can sing or play an instrument and enjoys contemporary Christian music. Contact the church office at 513-347-4613 for more information.

Music for Children and Youth

In conjunction with Christian Education (Bridges of Faith), we offer music for youth in Grades K-5 on Wednesday nights. Instruction includes development of musical skills via chorus, percussion, Orff, and solos. This group performs for Advent/Christmas and Lent/Easter.

Soloists

Instrumentalists and vocalists can share their musical gifts in Sunday worship and at special services. There are also opportunities to sing and play with the Worship Band and in small groups.

Concert Series

Presents concerts from a variety of musical styles including: jazz, folk, gospel, contemporary Christian, classical, and modern. Performers are drawn from our church staff, our congregation, and the greater Cincinnati area and Tristate. Visit our concert series web page.

Audio-Visual Ministry

Technology is an integral part of worship at SJWUC. Each Sunday the A/ V team is responsible for the mixing of audio and video, and running the powerpoint slides for worship and our simulcast on Adelphia. No experience is required, training is provided.
